MLB Saturday Oakland A's vs Toronto Blue Jays

Analysis: The Oakland A's remain tied with the Texas Rangers atop the AL West, after taking game 1 of their series last night with the Toronto Blue Jays. The A's really needed that win as they had lost 6 of their last 7 games heading in to the series. Josh Reddick was on of many heroes in last night's 14-6 romp as he belted 3 HR's, which made him the first A's hitter to accomplish that feat in 9 years. Reddick had gone 0-13 in his previous 4 games before Friday night's outburst.  Reddick finished with five RBIs and Jed Lowrie had four hits with four RBIs, including a three-run home run, as the A's recorded five homers among their 17 hits. Taking the hill for the A's is former first round draft pick Sonny Gray, who will be making his major league debut. Gray has a chance to remain in the Oakland rotation with Tommy Milone in the minors and Brett Anderson still recovering from a foot injury.

The Toronto Blue Jays come in having lost 2 straight games and 5 of their last 8, and game 1 was not how they would have liked to start this series. Toronto's offense has been solid of late, putting up 5.3 rpg in their last, but it has been their pitching that has really let them down as they have allowed 6.4 rpg over that same 7 games stretch. Mark Buerhle gets the ball for the Jays in this one and he has some solid numbers vs the A's of late, as the left-hander is 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA in his last four starts against the A's and that includes allowing five hits in seven innings of a 5-0 victory on July 30.  Mark is 2-1 with a 1.17 ERA in his last three home starts and owns a 2.95 mark at Toronto this season. Toronto All-Star Jose Bautista is 7 for 16 with two home runs and three RBIs against the A's this season.

Pick: I like the Jays in this one. Their offense has been very hot of late, and that should continue vs Sonny Gray, who had a 6.19 ERA in the Minors in July. The Oakland offense put up 14 runs last night, but that will not happen here vs Buerhle, who has been very solid at home, with a 2.95 ERA, including a 1.17 ERA in his last 3 starts here. I look for the Jays to bounce back nicely today.
