MLB Saturday Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants

Saturday night baseball and we will see the Arizona Diamondbacks take on the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for a 9:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally. Current Betting Odds, according to Sportsbook.ag, have San Francisco listed as the favorite

Current Odds

Arizona           +125
San Francisco  -135

Over/ Under: 7 -110

Analysis: Arizona has hit .230 and been outscored 67-38 in dropping 11 of 14 on the road. Second baseman Aaron Hill, mired in a 2-for-21 funk, is hitless in his last 13 at-bats in this series. Arizona has lost six of its last seven games against the Giants. he Diamondbacks will try to bounce back behind Wade Miley (6-7, 4.01), who has gone 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA in three starts this month. The left-hander allowed three runs in eight innings to beat Milwaukee 5-3 last Thursday. Miley is 0-2 with a 4.08 ERA in three career starts versus San Francisco. J.J. Putz, David Hernandez and Heath Bell have all struggled, leading to speculation that long reliever Josh Collmenter could be used later in games. Collmenter has a 1.69 ERA over his last 12 games, and right-hander Brad Ziegler has also given hope to the beleaguered bullpen with three saves this month.

The All-Star break came at a good time for Matt Cain, who is coming off the shortest start of his career. Cain looks to get on track Saturday when his San Francisco Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks after winning Friday’s series opener 2-0. Matt Cain has posted a 5.15 ERA since the start of June while failing to get out of the third inning in his last two starts. The 28-year-old right-hander insists he is healthy, but he's clearly not the same pitcher who went 4-0 in five May starts. Aaron Hill is 7-for-21 with a home run against Cain, who is 13-6 with a 3.39 ERA in 30 career starts against Arizona. 1B Brandon Belt is 14-for-34 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 10 games against the Diamondbacks this season. Posey is 5 for 10 with a homer and two doubles vs Miley, while Andres Torres is 5 for 9 with two extra-base hits.

Pick: Going with the Under in this one. Matt Cain Is struggling right now, but he should get back on track vs a struggling Arizona Offense, that has scored just 2.6 rpg in their last 5 games. Cain usually pitches well vs Arizona, having allowed just 10 Total ER's in his last 6 starts vs them. Wade Miley comes in in good form, having not allowed more than 3 ER's in his last 8 starts, while he hasn't allowed more than 3 ER's in any of 3 career starts vs the Giants. This has the makings of a pitcher's duel.
