The Atlanta Braves are on the road on Opening Day in Major League Baseball, taking on the New York?Mets. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The MLB?Odds for the game have the Mets listed as a huge favorite to pick up the win.
MLB?Odds
New York?Mets -173
Total: 6.5 runs
The Mets are sending out Noah Syndergaard in this one, he was 14-9 last season in 30 starts with a 2.60 ERA in 183 2/3 innings. The hard-throwing righty has only seen the Braves a couple of times and in 50 career at bats he’s allowed 15 hits (.300).?Freddie Freeman has the only homer against Thor.
The Braves are throwing Julio Teheran, who is better than last season’s 7-10 record would indicate. Teheran had an ERA of 3.21 last season covering 188 innings, he made 30 starts on the season for a bad Braves team. Current Mets are hitting just .196 against him over 204 at bats. Lucas Duda has the best numbers, claiming seven hits in 23 at bats including two home runs. Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce both have two home runs against him as well.
Atlanta might be better than expected. They will have a fun season with?Matt Kemp in the outfield and Brandon Phillips gives them a quality guy at second base.
Syndergaard has better overall numbers on the road, but his numbers at home are very good as well. If he can go deep in this game and the Mets don’t have to rely on the bullpen, they get the job done.
