The
Texas Rangers and
Milwaukee Brewers conclude their two game inter-league set tonight when they meet at Miller Park. This evening’s finale is scheduled to get underway at 8:10pm ET.
MLB Odds at offshore bookmaker Sportsbook.ag have the Brewers listed as a -114 moneyline favorite and the Over/Under set at eight runs (Over is favored at -115 odds). The Rangers are drawing +104 moneyline odds ($100 wins $104) to earn a split.
The 15-16 Brewers, who are 4.5 games back of the NL Central leading Cardinals, halted their free fall last night, scoring a 6-3 win over the Rangers. Milwaukee, which had lost five straight heading into yesterday’s game, roughed up Texas starter Justin Grimm as they tagged the 24 year old right hander for eight hits and five earned runs in five innings.
The Brewers can only hope they do the same tonight with southpaw Derek Holland on the hill for Texas. Holland has not exactly been hitter friendly this season as his 2.74 ERA and 0.94 WHIP would suggest; however, his last two road starts were less than spectacular.
Holland yielded 11 hits, nine earned runs, and five free passes (12.2 innings pitched) in road outings opposite the Twins and Angels. Despite his suspect performances, the Rangers were able to split those two games.
Milwaukee will look to thwart Texas’ formidable lineup by handing the ball to
Kyle Lohse. Lohse owns an impressive 3.16 ERA and 1.11 WHIP; however, his record is a lackluster 1-3 and the Brewers are 2-4 in his six starts.
The 12 year veteran suffered through his worst outing of the season last Friday as he gave up 11 hits and four earned runs over five innings in a 1-6 loss to the Cardinals. Lohse had not allowed more than six hits in a start this season prior to last week’s outing against his former club.
Notable Trends: The Rangers are 1-9 in their last 10 games as a road dog with a moneyline spread between 100 and 120. The Over is 8-2 in the Brewers last 10 games as a home favorite against a left handed pitcher.
Texas Rangers +1.5 (-220), Over 8 (-115), +104 (Moneyline)
Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (+180), Under 8 (-105), -114 (Moneyline)
