The 2017 T-Mobile Home Run Derby takes places tonight from Miami. The event is scheduled to have an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The Home Run Derby Odds for the event has Giancarlo Stanton favored to pick up the victory.
Stanton took first place last year at Petco Park in San Diego, basting his way past Robinson Cano, Mark Trumbo and then beating Todd Frazier in the finals. He hit 24 bombs in his opening matchup against Cano, easily the most hit by any player in a round last season. His 20 in the finals was the only close mark to that and his 17 in the second round was the third best round by any player as well.
This year the Derby is continuing the bracket style with eight players.
Stanton is the top overall seed, he is going to take on Yankee catcher Gary Sanchez in the opening round. Aaron Judge, the Yankee slugger who leads the league in home runs in the first half, will take on Justin Bour in the opening round.
The other two matchups feature Kansas City's Mike Moustakas taking on Minnesota's Miguel Sano in addition to Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers and Chalie Blackmon of the Rockies.
