Analysis: The Colorado Rockies are gaining confidence, even if they keep beating one of the worst teams in the National League. Colorado will try for a sweep - and make it 6-for-6 on the season over the Padres - when it visits San Diego today in the finale of the three-game series. The Rockies are doing their thing at the plate, averaging 5.7 runs and getting production up and down the lineup. Catcher Wilin Rosario, who led NL rookies with 28 home runs in 2012, is hitting .361 with four homers and 10 RBIs after recording a career-high four hits and matching a career best by driving in three runs in Saturday's 9-5 victory. Rosario is also excelling behind the plate, throwing out 4-of-6 would-be basestealers. Jorge De La Rosa did a decent job in his last outing when he allowed three runs and six hits in six innings. He made one big mistake, though, allowing a three-run homer to Hunter Pence in San Francisco's 4-2 victory on Monday. De La Rosa underwent Tommy John surgery after making 10 starts in 2011 and returned for three appearances at the end of last season. He is 4-2 with a 5.54 ERA in 15 games (11 starts) lifetime against San Diego, including 1-1, 3.05 at Petco Park.

The Rockies have outscored the Padres 36-16 in 2013, but are dominating a team that is hitting .245 with six home runs and owns a 5.55 ERA and 1.68 WHIP - both worst in the major leagues.  Everth Cabrera, who finished a double shy of the cycle Saturday, is just 1 for 9 with six strikeouts against the Jorge, but Cameron Maybin is 3 for 4 with a homer. Mired in a 2-for-27 slump to start the year, Maybin received a day off Saturday but is expected to play in this game. Clayton Richard (0-1, 8.68) takes the hill for San Diego. The left-hander gave up eight hits and three walks in five innings Tuesday but managed to limit the damage, allowing two runs in a 9-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Richard has been hit hard over his last six starts against the Rockies, going 1-3 with a 7.29 ERA. Tulowitzki is 8 for 15 with three homers against him and Helton is 8 for 19. Fowler, though, is just 4 for 23 with six strikeouts. San Diego LF Carlos Quentin did not start Saturday and popped out in a pinch-hitting role with runners at second and third and one out in the eighth inning. Quentin was suspended eight games for charging the mound in a benches-clearing incident against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, but is appealing.

Pick: Here is something you may never hear again. "Petco Park is the top hitting park in the league" and Vegas seems to be catching up a bit with that. Not very often is there an OU line of 8 in a San Diego home game, but this park has proven this year that it will yield some runs. The first two games of the series has put up 12 and 14 and this one should get at least 10. Colorado really has like this park of late as they have now scored 37 runs in their last 5 games in this park. Overall this Colorado offense has been very hot, checking in at 6th in scoring and 2nd in hitting and they will be facing a struggling Clayton Richards in this one. Clayton comes in with an 8.68 ERA and a 2.14 WHIP in 2 starts this year. He has been so bad that he has pitched just 9.1 innings in the two starts. Boy Colorado should really tee off on him. The Padre offense hasn't been that bad vs Rockie pitching in this series, putting up 5 runs in each game and they should have another good showing vs Jorge De La Rosa, who has a 6.10 ERA through two starts and generally struggles on the road. 10-12 runs in this one.
