The Minnesota Timberwolves will chase a third straight win this evening when they square off against the Golden State Warriors at the ORACLE Arena in Oakland, California. The two Western Conference rivals are scheduled to take the court at 10:30pm ET; coverage of tonight's game will be provided by NBA TV. The Timberwolves effort to claw their way back to the break even point continued on Tuesday night when they battled the Jazz in Salt Lake City. Minnesota, which crushed the same Utah team 98-72 on Saturday in Minneapolis, got to within one game of .500 thanks to its 112-97 victory over Tyrone Corbin's squad.
Things should get a little more difficult for the 20-21 Timberwolves tonight, though. Golden State is presently second in the Pacific Division standings with a 26-17 record and it is 12-6 in 18 games at the ORACLE Arena this season.
However, the Warriors have struggled some of late. Golden State is 2-4 in its last six games, suffering losses to the Nets, Nuggets, Thunder, and Pacers. And, unfortunately for the Warriors, two of those setbacks came on their home court (Denver, Indiana).
Nonetheless, Minnesota, while much improved from last season, should be a welcome sight to Golden State. The Warriors have taken care of business, for the most part, against middling to lower rung teams and they have been especially hard on the Timberwolves over the last couple of seasons.
Golden State extended its winning streak over Minnesota to seven games when these two teams hooked up at the Target Center on November 6th. The Warriors topped the Wolves 106-93, despite a 25 point, 16 rebound, six assist effort from Kevin Love. Klay Thompson led the way for Golden State in the double digit win, scoring 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting.
Notable Trends: The Warriors are 5-1 both straight up and against the spread in their last six games as a home favorite against the Timberwolves.
