Minnesota Golden Gophers at Nebraska Cornhuskers College Football Betting Odds

Big Ten Breakdown 2012: Minnesota Golden Gophers, Part 1 Overview

A battle of Top 25 college football teams in the Big Ten takes place Saturday between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Currently the College Football Betting Odds for the game have Cornhuskers favored to pick up the win.

Nebraska has looked pretty good in home games this season, winners of all six games. They are coming off an embarrassing loss, though, from allowing Melvin Gordon to rush for an NCAA record last week in a 59-24 beatdown from the Badgers. The oddsmakers have the Huskers laying double digits in this one against a good Minnesota team as they expect Nebraska to bounce back and get the job done at home.

Minnesota has gotten better every year under head coach Jerry Kill. They've already won seven games this season and gave Ohio State a hell of a battle last week at home, but will they be able to rise up once again, this time on the road, to take on the Cornhuskers? The Golden Gophers picked up the win in this game last year for the first time since 1960.

The one negative here for Nebraska is the physical toll they took last week against Nebraska. That's a bit neutralized, though, as Minnesota battled with Ohio State last week. The team that wins the line of scrimmage battles will be in a good positions here.

Both teams are going to look to run the football, too. David Cobb is one of the unsung backs in the country for the Gophers, but has logged 1,350 yards on the ground and 11 scores this season. Nebraska will want to feed the football to Ameer Abdullah (still isn't 100 percent), who has 1,319 yards and 17 touchdowns himself this season. The quarterbacks — Mitch Leidner and Tommy Armstrong Jr. — will also have a lot to do with this game.

Minnesota can play in the Big Ten title game with wins this week and next week over Wisconsin. The 1-2 road record isn't great, but having a chance to play for the conference title game will fuel this team to a road win.
