The Michigan Wolverines are on the road in college basketball action today, taking on the Wisconsin Badgers. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Michigan could be the top-ranked team in the country, if they are able to pick up a win here. The Wolverines come into the contest ranked second in the country, but Duke did lose earlier in the week. There’s thought that Virginia could leapfrog the Wolverines because of a potential pair of Top 10 wins if they can knock off Duke, so we will see what happens.

In this game, Michigan will certainly bring its defense to the court. The Wolverines allow just 56.6 points per game, which ranks third in the country. John Beilein’s club also has the third-best defense by efficiency standards, so expect that to show up here. The Wolverines have already set a mark for the best start in school history, but if they are going to win this game, it’s going to take a well-played contest.

Wisconsin comes in having lost four of the last five overall, including the last two. Ethan Happ is an All-Big Ten type player and he leads Wisconsin in basically every statistic. Brad Davison is also a solid player, but he will be matched up against Zavier Simpson, who is one of the better on the ball defenders in the country from the point guard spot. Simpson isn’t the best shooter, but he certainly makes Michigan go. 

The Wolverines have really only been tested on the road once, a 62-60 win over Northwestern in early December. Since then, Michigan has played just one road game, a 10-point win at Illinois. They’re going to be tested here, but the Wolverines are just too talented.
