While Michigan’s fan base has huge expectations for the team’s 2012 season, the odds makers are not quite as high on the Wolverines as those drinking the Ann Arbor kool-aid. The latest 2012 College Football Predictions are not dismissive of Michigan; however, the Wolverines are a second pick to Wisconsin to win the Big Ten Championship (+250 odds) and they are favored, at -200 odds ($200 wins $100), to win fewer than nine games. Michigan’s 2013 BCS Odds are currently listed at 41-1, which would bring a return of $4100 for every $100 wagered should Brady Hoke’s squad win the national championship.
The majority of the Michigan faithful were excited about the hiring of Brady Hoke as head coach given his enormous success at Ball State and San Diego State, but few saw him getting the Wolverines turned around so quickly.
Hoke garnered even greater affinity by guiding Michigan to a 10-2 regular season record and a spot in the Sugar Bowl, which it won 23-20 in overtime, opposite Virginia Tech.
Matching last season’s run, despite the return of 50 lettermen and starters like Denard Robinson and Kenny Demens, will not be easy. The Wolverines face Alabama and Notre Dame in their non-conference slate and they have road games at Nebraska and Ohio State in conference. Offshore book maker 5Dime.eu has Michigan lined as an underdog in each of those contests.
