The Miami Dolphins opted to fire head coach Tony Sparano after the 2011 season resulted in a 6-10 record, but the switch did not pay immediate dividends. The Dolphins notched their fourth consecutive losing campaign last year, finishing with a 7-9 record under new front man Joe Philbin. Despite another sub .500 result, there is some optimism in South Florida that Miami could turn things around this year. The odds makers at 5Dimes do not neccesarily share that opinion, though, as the Dolphins are favored to win fewer than eight games at -125 odds ($125 wins $100). The offshore bookmaker’s latest 2014 Super Bowl Odds suggest Miami is a middle of the pack squad as well with the team presently lined at 44 to 1 ($100 wins $4400) to win the Lombardi Trophy.
Other book makers, including Vegas based Cantor Gaming, are not that high on the Dolphins either. In May Cantor released game lines for every week one through week 16 NFL regular season contest and it had Miami favored in just five games (at Cleveland (-1.5) and home to Buffalo (-4), Cincinnati (-1), San Diego (-3), and Carolina (-1.5).
