This year he is ranked 4th in wins by a trainer with 74 and overall in his career he has 3373 wins overall in his career.
Materiality will be ridden by John Velazquez, who has compiled 5329 wins in his career, including 75 this year. Materiality is one of Todd Pletcher's assassin that was left out of the Preakness just to prepare for this race in hope of knocking off a Triple Crown hopeful. He just might be a horse to watch here as he has very good speed and has won 3 of his 4 races in his career so far. While the lone loss came in the Kentucky Derby, he ran a fast last quarter-mile and rallied to finish sixth in that race. That's a good sign going into the Belmont Stakes. Materiality is worth a shot here.

Beating the Belmont for Beginners
Steve Fezzik and Teddy Covers are pro bettors, but both admit they aren't much for horse racing betting. They say that isn't a requirement to bet the Belmont though. Since American Pharoah is going for the Triple Crown, something we haven't seen since Affirmed in 1978, simply bet the field to win and you'll succeed. There have been 12 Triple Crown Contenders in the past 20 years and none of them have won, so the guys are more than comfortable to take the "no-win" bet on American Pharoah. Avoid the media hype about the special horse, there are too many horse "assassins" in the field and history shows it is a bad bet.
