Major League Baseball San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The San Francisco Giants welcome in the San Diego Padres tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 10:15 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Giants favored to pick up the win at home.

San Francisco has their ace on the mound tonight in Madison Bumgarner. He's lost four times already this season but in those defeats the Giants scored a combined four runs in those losses.

Two of those defeats came at home for Bumgarner, where he's logged 46 1/3 innings this season and allowed just 13 earned runs in seven starts. Opponents are hitting .227 against him in San Francisco. Current Padres have 165 plate appearances against him, collectively hitting a .267 average. Six different players have all hit one home run off of him, but Justin Upton has had the most success with 12 hits (one home run) in 30 at bats (.400).

San Diego has struggled to this point in the season, sitting at 34-38. Bud Black was fired and the Padres were the sexy pick to push the Giants and Dodgers in the National League West, but they currently find themselves in fourth place, 5.5 games back. The Padres are reeling at this point and need to find a way to get back in with a nice run.

The Padres will send Odrisamer Despaigne to the mound tonight. He's 3-5 with a 4.92 ERA in his starts. His most recent saw him give up six earned runs in six innings in a loss at Oakland, the Athletics collected eight hits in that game.

Despaigne threw in relief against San Francisco way back in April, tossing 4 2/3 innings and not allowing a hit in one of the opening games of the season.

Tonight San Francisco gets the win.
