Major League Baseball Odds Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees

Saturday baseball and we will see the Toronto Blue Jays take on the New York Yankees in game 2 of their 3 game series from the Bronx. First pitch is scheduled for a 1:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on MLB Network.

Current Odds

Toronto              +115
New York           -135

Over/ Under: 8.5 O -125

Analysis: The Toronto Blue Jays come in having won 5 of their last 7 games and currently in 3rd place in the AL East, 2.5 games behind the Baltimore Orioles. the AL East. The Jays are just 24-27 on the road this year and are just 13-42 in their last 52 games in New York. The Jays have been solid on offense this year, ranking 5th in the league in scoring (4.53 rpg), 6th in hitting (.261) and 1st in homers (123). The pitching has been poor for the Jays, as they rank 24th in the league in ERA (4.11) and 26th in WHIP (1.37). Getting the ball for the Jays today will be Drew Hutchinson, who is 6-9 with a 4.54 ERA on the year overall, while on the road he is 4-4 with a 2.97 ERA. Drew is 1-3 with a 6.86 ERA in 4 career starts vs the Yanks.

The New York Yankees coming in having won 7 of their last 8 games and currently sit just 2 games back of the Orioles in the AL East. The Yanks are a mediocre 25-24 at home, but have won 17 straight at home vs the Blue Jays. The Yankees are a below average offensive team, as they rank 20th in scoring (3.95 rpg), 16th in hitting (.251) and 17th in homers (85). The pitching has been very average for this team, as they are 16th in ERA (3.79), 11th in WHIP (1.25) and 3rd in Ks (865). Getting the ball for the Yankees today will be Chris Capuano, who spent the year in the Pen for the Red Sox, before being traded to the Yankees. Chris is 1-0 with a 5.78 ERA in 2 career starts vs the Yanks.

Pick: I will be going with the over in this one. Chris Capuano has not been a great starter in his career and he has just been awful out of the pen this year and facing a lineup like the Jays is not the best remedy to turn things around. Drew Hutchinson has been just horrible of late, with a 9.88 ERA in his last 3 starts, plus he has a 9.21 ERA in 3 starts vs the Yankees this year.  Both offense should be able to do damagae vs these pitchers today and put up at least 10 runs.
