Major League Baseball Odds San Diego Padres vs Atlanta Braves Free Pick

Atlanta Braves' World Series Design Is Fatally Flawed

The San Diego Padres take on the Atlanta Braves tonight in the opening game of their series. The game is scheduled for a 7:35 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the Major League Baseball Odds for the game have the Braves favored at home.

San Diego and Atlanta start up their series tonight with the Padres staying on the road. Atlanta just lost three of their last four games to the Miami Marlins in their own yard and now have a Padres team coming in that is actually hitting the baseball well.

It was only against the Cubs, but San Diego has been clubbing the baseball the last two games. Both teams are 5-5 their last 10 games overall, but San Diego, who has won four of five overall, traded Chase Headley away and all of a sudden started collecting hits.

Getting the ball tonight for San Diego is Jesse Hahn. He has been pretty solid this season, spinning an ERA of 2.21 this season with his 5-5 record. The offense hasn't been the best in his starts, but with the way the Padres are playing now he could pick up a victory on the road in this one.

Atlanta, looking to get back on the right track, will give the ball to Alex Wood. He's been serviceable this season as well for the Braves, sporting a 7-7 record with a 3.24 ERA. He has, in addition, been better since he rejoined the rotation, going 2-1 with a 2.87 ERA in five starts.

This could be a game that doesn't have a lot of runs unless San Diego can keep hitting the ball well. Atlanta has been scuffling but still is in a good position in the National League East. But we'll back the hot offensive club in this one. Hahn is a guy that can go out and eat up some innings without giving up a lot of runs, so if the offense can produce at the same level, they're going to be tough to beat.

Free Pick: San Diego 6, Atlanta 3
