Thursday baseball and we will see the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Colorado Rockies in game 1 of their 4 game series from Coors Field in Clorado. First pitch is scheduled for an 8:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on MLB Network.
Los Angeles -139
Over/ Under: 10.5 O -115
Analysis: The Los Angeles Dodgers come in off a tough home series vs the Indians, in which they lost 2 of three. LA has struggled at home for much of the year, but now they take to the road where they are a solid 26-16 on the year. The Dodger offense has been solid, as they are 10th in scoring (4.24 rpg), 9th in hitting (.258), 17th in homers (70) and 1st in stolen bases (81). The pitching for the Dodgers has been very solid, ranking 3rd in ERA (3.21), 8th in WHIP (1.22), 2nd in Ks (714) and 3rd in quality starts (54). Getting the ball for the Dodgers tonight will be Zack Greinke, who is 10-4 with a 2.78 ERA overall, while on the road he is 4-3 with a 2.82 ERA. Zach is 4-2 with a 3.95 ERA in 12 appearances (11 starts) vs the Rockies.
The Colorado Rockies are in a miserable slump, as they have won just 2 of their last 16 games and 8 of their last 33. The slide now has the Rockies in 4th in the NL West, 11.5 games behind the Giants. The Rockies have been a solid offensive team, coming in ranked 7th in the league in scoring (4.41 rpg) 12th in hitting (.254) and 12th in homers (74). The pitching has not been all that good, as they come in ranked 25th in ERA (4.09) and 26th in WHIP (1.37). Getting the ball for Colorado will be Franklin Morales, who is 3-4 with a 6.13 ERA in 11 starts this year. He has done better out of the pen, going 1-0 with a 4.20 ERA in 9 appearances this year. Morales is 2-0 with a 3.48 ERA in 2 starts vs the Giants.
Pick: Going to look at the Under in this one. The Dodgers are not hitting all that much of late and they have averaged just 3.89 rpg for Zack Greinke on the road. Speaking of Zack, he has a 2.82 ERA and his road starts have averaged just 7.67 rpg. Franklin Morales is a horrible starter, but still cant see LA putting more than 5 runs on the board vs him. I see at the most 8 runs in this one.
