Sunday baseball and we will see the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Colorado Rockies in game 3 of their 3 game series from Coors Field in Colorado. First pitch is scheduled for a 4:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.
Los Angeles -150
Over/ Under: 9 U -120
Analysis: The Los Angeles Dodgers are slumping, as they come in having won just 3 of their last 10 games, to fall to 32-31 on the year and 9 full games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West. The Dodgers are very average on offense, ranking 13th in scoring (4.25 rpg) and 13th in hitting (.253). The Pitching for them has been decent as they come in ranked 7th in the league in ERA (3.44) and 12th in WHIP (1.28). Getting the ball for the Dodgers will be Clayton Kershaw, who is 4-2 on the year with a 3.32 ERA. Clayton is 5-3 with a 5.24 ERA in 13 career starts in this park.
The Colorado Rockies won yesterday's game to snap the 8 game losing streak that they were on. The Rockies are now just 29-32 on the year and 11 games behind the Giants in the NL West. The Rockies are 3rd in the league in scoring (4.95 rpg), 1st in hitting (.285) and 2nd in homers (79). The pitching for them has not been nearly as effective, as they come in ranked 30th in the league in ERA (4.56) and 27th in WHIP (1.38). Jorge De La Rosa will get the ball for the Rockies today and he comes in at 6-4 with a 3.68 ERA on the year, while going 3-1 with a 2.78 ERA at home. Jorge is 3-8 with a 5.54 ERA in 17 appearances (13 starts) vs the Dodgers.
Pick: Going with the Dodgers in this one. I know that Kershaw has struggled in this park, but he is still the better pitcher on the mound in this game and that should be the difference in this one. The Rockies have killed right-handed pitching at home this year, but Kershaw is a lefty and that will not have great success vs him in this one. I look for LA to get one back today, even without Puig in there.
