Taking the mound for the Giants is Tim Hudson, who missed his last start due to a hip strain. Tim is 4-2 on the year, with a 2.09 ERA and an 0.81 WHIP. Tim Has struggled in this park, going 0-2 with a 7.41 ERA in 6 career starts here.
The Rockies come in with the best offense in baseball, ranking 1st in scoring (5.52 rpg), 1st in hitting (.299) and 1st in homers (63). Troy Tulowitzki is tied for the team lead in hits (56), while leading them in BA (.389). He really is having an outstanding year overall as he leads the Rockies in runs scored (44), Homers (13) and RBIs (35). Well on his way to a possible NL MVP year, if he can stay healthy. The Pitching has been below average as they rank 21st in ERA (4.09), 17th in WHIP (1.32) and 29th in Ks (288). Jorge De La Rosa gets the ball today and he comes in with a 5-3 mark and a 4.14 ERA on the year. Jorge is 9-5 with a 4.15 ERA in 21 appearances (18 starts) vs the Giants in his career.
Pick: I will be taking the Under in this one. Last night Matt Cain slowed down the Rockie Offense and I expect Tim Hudson tom be able to do the same. Tim is reborn and pitching just as good as ever as he comes in with a 2.09 ERA and an 0.81 WHIP overall, including a 1.93 ERA and an 0.86 WHIP in his last 3 starts. He has struggled in this park, but right now comes in with a 1.53 ERA on the road this year, with his 4 road starts averaging just 5 rpg so far. Jorge De La Rosa is also pitching well as we head into this game, as he has a 1.70 ERA in his last 5 starts and he also has a 2.82 ERA in his 4 home starts this year and that includes allowing just 1 ER in 5 innings of work in a home star vs the Giants earlier in the year. I expect him to have similar success in this one, while Tim Hudson also has good success vs a tough Rockies lineup that just can't go on scoring 8.71 rpg vs righties at home. I say 7 or 8 runs tops here.
