The Major League Baseball season will continue this afternoon with a game between the host New York Mets and the Oakland Athletics. The game is scheduled for a 1:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv and MLB Network. Currently the MLB Odds for the contest have the Mets listed as a massive favorite to pick up the win at home.

I'm gonna play the Mets today on the runline in the matinee contest. New York is coming off a recent dry spell where the Mets dropped four in a row, but I like them to get back in the win column here today. Being in a Wild Card race helped the Mets hang onto their stars and they've got a real shot to run down the teams in front of them.

It starts with not losing to the As at home again. The team picked up a strong win at home last night, 9-1, where they bashed out 11 hits and had a strong seventh inning, scoring six times. Hopefully that spark continues today.

I like Jose Quintana, the ageless wonder. He's been pedestrian (6-8, 4.10) this year, but does have decent numbers in 11 home starts this season with a 3.38 ERA. He does have to avoid the home run ball, though, as he's surrendered 14 long balls at home this year in just 61 innings. Way too many. He's gotta be a bulldog today and get the job done.
