The New York Yankees take on the Chicago White Sox today in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 2:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on TBS. Currently the odds for the game have the White Sox favored to pick up the victory at home.
The Yankees have a comfortable lead in the American League East and did a nice job of standing pat at the trade deadline. New York might have been able to benefit from getting a bullpen arm or not, but the market seemed to be a bit high for those types of services. The Yankees believe they have a team good enough to continue winning and they've put together a 28-28 record away from home this season.
Chicago sends Jeff Samardzija to the mound today. He was a potential trade piece for the White Sox, but they've been playing better and are currently just 3.5 games outside of the second Wild Card spot. While that's still going to be tough to overcome, by standing still at the trade deadline they are giving their fans a chance at making the post season this year. Samardzija is 8-5 with a 3.94 ERA on the season, he's 4-2 at home and his ERA is a full run lower at home as well. Current Yankees own an average of .229 against him in 70 at bats. Chase Headley and Carlos Beltran both have the most success as both are hitting well over .300 against him with a comfortable amount of at bats.
New York counters with Ivan Nova, who has had some arm problems this season. He's 3-3 record-wise and has an ERA of 3.38 in six starts. The road has not been kind to Nova, he's just 1-2 and opponents have a .304 average against him over 17 innings of work. He is going to have to keep the ball down today against a White Sox team that will be looking to drive the ball.
Current White Sox have a .409 average against him in 44 at bats. Melky Cabrera and Adam LaRoche both have hit homers off him and have accounted for eight hits in 12 at bats.
Today the White Sox pick up the win.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
