Major league baseball on Monday night and we will see the New York Mets take on the San Francisco Giants in game 1 of their 3 game series from AT&T Park in San Francisco. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 10:15 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.
New York +123
San Francisco -133
Over/ Under: 7 U -130
The Mets come in off of taking 2 of three in Los Angeles, which included beating Clayton Kershaw on Friday and then winning 8-0 yesterday behind their new phenom Steve Matz. The Mets still haven't played their best ball of late and they are still 4.5 games behind the Nats in the NL East. The Giants come in having lost their last 6 games in a row, which were all on the road. The Giants are 4 games behind the Dodgers in the NL East and they are just a mediocre 21-20 at home for the year
The Mets rank 27th in scoring (3.49 rpg), 29th in hitting (.234) and 24th in homers (65), while on the mound they are 5th in ERA (3.34) and 2nd in WHIP (1.19). San Francisco ranks 13th in scoring (4.17 rpg), 3rd in hitting (.268) and 22nd in homers (68), while on the mound they are 16th in ERA (3.92) and 15th in WHIP (1.27).
Getting the ball for the Mets tonight will be Jon Niese, who is 3-8 on the year, but with a solid 3.90 ERA, while on the road have has gone 1-5 with a 4.02 ERA. Jon is 1-3 with a 2.97 ERA in 8 games (7 starts) in his career vs the Giants, while at AT&T Park he has gone 1-1 with a 2.53 ERA in 4 games (3 starts).
Taking the hill for the Giants tonight will be Chris Heston, who is 8-5 with a 3.78 ERA overall, while at home he has gone 3-4 with a 3.12 ERA. Chris has 1 start vs the Mets this year and he threw a no-hitter vs them in that game. It is the only time he has faced the Mets in his career.
Pick: I am going to take a shot with the Mets here. This is a bad spot for the Giants, who played on the East coast last night, stayed there and then flew home this morning. This is a god situational spot to play the Mets. I know that Jon Niese is on the mound here for the Mets, but he has pitched better of late, posting a 2.70 ERA in his last 3 starts and despite going just 1-3 vs the Giants in his career he has a 2.97 ERA vs them. Chris Heston has pitched well this year for the Giants, but he is still 3-4 at home and the Mets will be looking to get some revenge for the No-hitter that he threw against them earlier in the year. I just can't see the Giants getting up for this game, especially with having to travel and play on the same day.

NCAA Football Betting Pick: Utah vs. Arizona State
The Arizona State Sun Devils are coming to Utah for a Pac-12 college football match up in October and pro bettors Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik think the timing, the altitude, and the competition will be just too much for ASU. The Utes' stadium is a high-altitude venue, and the Sun Devils are going to be in the stretch of a rough run of games including match ups with conference heavyweights USC and Oregon. With this away game sandwiched between these tough games and no bye week to help them rest and recover, the thought is Utah will be the team to bet.
