Major League Baseball Minnesota Twins at Detroit Tigers Start Time, Betting Odds

The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers meet up for their second game of the season today in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 1:08 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv from Detroit. Currently the betting odds for the game have Tigers listed as a pretty hefty favorite to pick up the win.

David Price pitched a dominant game on Monday afternoon for the Tigers, going 8 2-3 innings and mowing down the Twins. Detroit will look to get the same type of effort from Anibal Sanchez today. Sanchez was banged up a bit last season, but did pitch very well against Minnesota. He picked up a win and has a 1.84 ERA against the Twins in his last five appearances.

Sanchez finished with just a 4-5 mark in games at Comerica Park last season, most of the time not getting a great amount of run support. His 3.53 ERA in 14 appearances there last season over 81 2-3 innings is impressive and he held opponents to just a .207 average while giving up just two home runs all season.

Current Twins are struggling against the Detroit starter, combining for just a .170 average in 100 career plate appearances. Only Joe Mauer (5-for-17) has any real success against Sanchez.

Minnesota will give the ball to Ricky Nolasco, a guy that struggled mightily last season, going just 6-12 overall while posting a 5.38 ERA. He did throw well against Detroit, though, posting a record of 1-0, beating Detroit in his final start of the season.

The Twins don't have a legitimate threat outside of Mauer in the lineup on a consistent basis and those that could be (Brian Dozier, Jordan Schafer) are a combined 2-for-26 against Sanchez, a big strikeout guy.

Detroit had identical records of 45-36 last season in home/away splits and still won the division. With improved teams in the Central, the Tigers are going to have to be better at Comerica this season. Today they can take that step by beating Minnesota for a second straight game.

The Tigers lineup is just too good and they'll knock around Nolasco. There just isn't enough holes in the Detroit lineup and there aren't many holes.
