The Los Angeles Dodgers are on the road tonight in Major League Baseball action when they take on the Oakland Athletics. The game is scheduled for a 10:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live in both markets. Currently the odds for the game have the Dodgers favored to pick up the win on the road.
Imagine that, the Dodgers are a massive favorite on the road tonight in Oakland. Los Angeles currently holds a three game lead in the National League West over the San Francisco Giants. That lead would be a lot wider if the Dodgers were any good on the road.
LA is just 25-31 away from Dodger Stadium this season, they have the second fewest wins on the road in the NL West this year, only sitting in front of the Colorado Rockies. They, along with the New York Mets, are the two teams in the National League that actually lead divisions while having a poor road record. The Mets are now 21-34 away from home, but they have a 4.5 game lead over the Washington Nationals.
Clayton Kershaw throws tonight for the Dodgers. He's as close to "must-see" as there is in baseball, but his numbers aren't the best on the road. Kershaw sports a record of 3-4 away from home, his 3.24 ERA is almost two full runs higher compared to home and in his 12 starts he's allowed 30 earned runs. Those aren't terrible numbers, but for Kershaw it's definitely a skew toward the bad. Current As are hitting .353 in 17 at bats against him, Danny Valencia has two hits while four other guys have at least one base hit.
The Athletics will throw journeyman Felix Doubront. He's made four starts this season, but has not started yet for the Athletics. Since being acquired by Oakland he's pitched in two losses, but hasn't earned a decision either way. Doubront tossed 6 1/3 innings in relief against Toronto recently, a game Aaron Brooks started but lasted less than two innings. Doubront gave up two earned runs on five hits.
It's tempting to take the Athletics in this one against Kershaw, especially with the Dodgers struggles on the road. But Oakland is just not a good — the As come in having lost seven straight.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
