The Major League Baseball week continues this evening with a matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the host Houston Astros. The game is scheduled for an 8:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on Apple TV-plus. Currently the MLB Odds for the contest have the Astros listed as a small favorite to pick up the win at home.

I never like to bet against the Dodgers, but I'm going to be doing that here tonight. The Astros have not been playing great baseball of late, but they'll look to get things going in the right direction with this one tonight. Also worth noting that the Astros are favored tonight despite LA coming in winners of six of their last seven overall.

I like Framber Valdez on the bump. He's been pretty strong his last six starts, yielding three earned runs or fewer in each of those. The Astros have also won five consecutive Valdez starts and I expect that to continue here in this one.

Gavin Stone (9-3, 3.19) has been solid for the Dodgers and there's no reason to expect anything different from him tonight. But in two of his last three starts he's failed to make it into the fifth inning, giving up four earned runs to both Philly and Arizona. He was strong in his last outing in a Dodger win over Boston, but threw only five innings.

LA has also been a decent road team (28-22), but I'm going with the Astros here in this one tonight in what should be a lower-scoring game.
