Analysis: The LA Angels come in at 1-3 on the year and are off their first win of the season as their offense finally woke up in an 11-1 drubbing of the Astros last night. Josh Hamilton went 3-3 in the game with a Homer and 3 RBIs and is now hitting .462 in the early going. Mike Trout went 2-4 with with a homer, which was his 2nd on the year. Overall the Angels pounded out 15 hits in the game to raise their season average to .234. Getting the ball for the Halos tonight will be newly acquired Tyler Skaggs, who went just 2-3 with a 5.12 ERA for Arizona last year. Skaggs compiled a 4.94 ERA in six spring starts while allowing 31 hits and 12 walks in 23 2/3 innings.
The Houston Astros took 2 of three from the Yankees to open up their season, but that came crashing down with last night's 11-1 loss to these Angels. The Angels have had their own offensive woes in the early going as they come in hitting just .211 and have scored just 3 rpg so far. Dexter Fowler missed Friday's game with a stomach bug after going 6-for-12 with a home run and five runs scored in his first three games. Getting the ball for Houston is Dallas Keuchel, who went 6-10 with a 5.13 ERA last year. Dallas is 2-0 in 3 career starts vs the Angels, but with a 6.48 ERA.
Pick: Love the Angels here. Some times when a team is struggling the best thing for them to do is to go out on the road to get away from the pressures of home and that played out perfectly last night and I expect it to continue tonight. Josh Hamilton and Mike Trout are both off to excellent starts and should have no problems helping their team score a bunch again tonight. Dallas Kuechel may be the worst pitcher on this bad Astros staff and the Angels should really tee off on him. Another easy win for the Halos here.
