The Los Angeles Angels are on the road tonight in Major League Baseball action when they take on the Texas Rangers. The game is scheduled for an 8:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv from Texas. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Angels favored on the road.

Both clubs are under the .500 mark so far this season through a handful of games. Texas played every day last week, but the Rangers are 3-4. The Angels were actually worse in their opening week, winning just twice in six games. They were, however, 2-1 in road games which should help them in this one tonight. 

Texas will throw Ross Detwiler, who gave up five earned runs over 4 1/3 innings against Oakland in his season debut. Oakland won that game 10-0 as the Rangers struggled to get anything going offensively. Current Angels have a .250 lifetime average against Detwiler in 16 at bats.

The Angels are throwing Matt Shoemaker, who picked up a win over Seattle in his opener. Shoemaker gave up three earned runs in that one, scattered six hits but found a way to win the game as his teammates scored five runs in the first two combined innings. Albert Pujols homered in that one to lead an Angels team that collected 10 total hits. 

Mike Trout has an average of .400 so far, David Freese and Pujols both have homered twice and the Angels offense is slowly coming along. As the season continues to move forward this team will certainly be one that has a ton of runs scored.

Texas has some nice players, but their offense has been poor this season. The Rangers rank 27th in hitting (.197), 14th in runs (24), have just a .280 on base percentage (23rd) and haven't been slugging the ball. The Angels are actually worse in average.

Neither pitcher seems like one to back, but we will take Texas at home.
