The Los Angeles Angels are on the road tonight when they take on the Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 10:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live in both markets. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Angels favored on the road to get the victory.
The Angels and Athletics, a pair of American League West teams on the outside looking in on the playoff race, meet up tonight in an all-California contest. The Angels are loaded with talent but find themselves right at .500 this year, 6.5 games outside of first place and they've been out-scored by 18 runs. The Angels are just 2-8 the last 10 games as well.
Oakland has been a bad squad all season. They're 17 games under the .500 mark, but have actually out-scored opponents by 12 runs. That's certainly interesting.
Los Angeles will send Hector Santiago to the mound. He's 7-8 with a 3.13 ERA in 25 starts. Santiago, a lefty, has been solid all season until recently, having lost four decisions the last seven starts while getting no decisions the other three games. Current Athletics own an average of .299 against him in 107 at bats. Coco Crisp has homered twice, four other Oakland players have hit a home run as well.
The Athletics will be sending Felix Doubront to the mound. He's 1-1 with a 3.70 ERA this season in six starts and three relief appearances. Current Angels own an average of .214 against him, only Mike Trout has more than one hit against him with two doubles.
With both teams struggling, Santiago is the better pitcher and should give the Angels an advantage. Trout has been in a major slump since the All-Star break, but he clubbed four hits in last night's game. Maybe he's beginning to turn it around.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
