Major League Baseball Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Los Angeles Angels welcome in the Houston Astros tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 10:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Angels favored to pick up the win at home.

Los Angeles sits just a single game over the .500 mark so far this year. Prior to the season starting, it seemed the Houston Astros might be in that position at this point in the season, but Houston has shocked the baseball world by owning the most victories in the American League with 41. Houston leads the American League West by three full games, having out-scored opponents by 38 runs.

The Angels have the payroll, the superstar players and a veteran manager, but they're four games under the .500 mark in road games this season. At home the Angels are pretty solid with a 20-15 record and they'll look to add to the win column tonight against the Astros.

C.J. Wilson, at 5-5 with a 3.39 ERA this year, gets the ball for the Angels. He's looked very sharp in his last two starts, throwing a combined 15 innings with one earned run while striking out 17 in victories over Oakland and Arizona.

Wilson started against Houston back in April, throwing 6 2/3 innings and allowing two earned runs. The Angels lost 4-0 in that game despite Wilson striking out eight. Current Astros own a record of .259 against him in 158 plate appearances. Jose Altuve, Chris Carter and George Springer have each homered twice off of him.

Collin McHugh will throw tonight for Houston. He's 7-3 with a 5.04 ERA. Current Angels own an average of .215 against him in 93 plate appearances, Kole Calhoun has five hits while Albert Pujols owns four hits off of him.

Both Pujols and Mike Trout have homered off of him as well. McHugh has been solid in road starts this season, going 3-1 in more than 51 innings thrown. Wilson has been decent in home starts as well. While the Astros are the division leaders, we'll take the Angels to pick up the win tonight at home.

Movie Stop the All-Star Game Ballot Stuffing

Pro handicappers Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik have a bone to pick with MLB Commisioner Bud Selig, who decided the All-Star exhibition game will determine World Series home field advantage. With Royals fans currently voting seven Kansas City players into the starting line up of the American League team, this popularity-based roster of an exhibition game which has way too much impact on the most important baseball series of the year.
