The Kansas City Royals are hosting the Boston Red Sox tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for an 8:15 p.m. start time and the Red Sox are listed as big favorites to pick up the win according to the betting odds.

The Chris Sale effect is alive and well with this one tonight. Sale, arguably the best left handed pitcher in the American League, is once again getting a ton of love from the oddsmakers, even on the road. Sale comes into the contest with an 8-3 record and a 2.82 ERA on the season, but all three of his defeats this season have seen him surrender less than three earned runs.
If the Red Sox had been able to score in those games, he's have even better numbers.
Kansas City has some familiarity with Sale dating back to his days in Chicago. Currently they own 388 collective at bats against him, hitting .299 covering that time. Last year he was 2-1 against the Royals with a 3.41 ERA and has 31 career appearances against them, posting an ERA of 2.97 all-time.
The Royals are going to have to avoid striking out. Sale leads the league in punchouts this season (136) in only 99 innings as he has great control and can go deep in games because he throws so many strikes.
KC will need a good outing from Matt Strahm (2-3, 3.67 ERA) as well. This will be his second Major League start, which is concerning for KC backers. If they had a more veteran presence on the mound, this could be a spot where you could take a big dog, especially at home.
But the Royals are red hot as well, winners in eight of their last nine games. Sale's numbers are still great on the road as well, but not overall as good as they have been at Fenway Park. This could be a nice RL spot.
