Major League Baseball Betting Odds San Diego Padres at Los Angeles Dodgers Free Pick

Major League Baseball on Friday night and I will have a Free Pick in the game between the San Diego Padres and the LA Dodgers, which will be played at Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles. First pitch is scheduled for an 10:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Padres               +176
Dodgers              -186

Over/ Under: 6.5 O -120

This is game 3 of a 3 game series between these NL West foes.

San Diego ranks 8th in scoring (4.49 rpg), 17th in hitting (.251) and 13th in homers (36) while on the mound they are 24th in ERA (4.43) and 21st in WHIP (1.37). San Diego has gone 4-1 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, but just 16-35 in their last 51 games as an underdog of +151 to +200 and 0-6 in Cashner's last 6 starts vs. the NL West.

The Dodgers rank 3rd in scoring (5.03 rpg), 7th in hitting (.264) and 2nd in homers (54) while on the mound they are 4th in ERA (3.28) and 4th in WHIP (1.15). LA has gone 22-7 in their last 29 home games vs. a team with a losing record and 39-13 in their last 52 home games with the total set at 6.5 or lower, plus 25-6 in Greinke's last 31 starts vs. the NL West.

Getting the ball for San Diego tonight will be Andrew Cashner, who has really pitched in tough luck this year as he is 1-7, but with a solid 3.24 ERA. On the road this year he has gone 1-3 with a 4.12 ERA. Andrew is 1-2 with a 3.19 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Dodgers, while in 3 career starts at Chavez Ravine he is 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA.

Getting the ball for the Dodgers tonight will be Zake Greinke, who is 5-1 on the year with a 1.52 ERA and an 0.86 WHIP, while at home he has gone 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA in 5 starts. Zack has had real good success vs the Padres in his career, going 5-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 9 starts vs them.

Pick: I am going to look at the Over here. Not many teams get shutout three games in a row, but the Dodgers did and I expect their offense to get back on track now that they are at home where they have averaged 5.27 rpg on the year. The Padres offense has been improved this year and away from home they have averaged 4.53 rpg on the year. There is a solid pitching matchup on the mound, but I feel that these two struggling offenses will find away to get at least 3 runs each.

Sell the Chicago Cubs--At Least Sell Their Awful Bullpen
Pro bettor Steve Fezzik isn't saying the 2015 MLB Chicago Cubs team is hopeless, but he is pretty sure their pitching staff is. They may have some batting power in newcomer Kris Bryant, but the bullpen is looking mediocre when they should look abysmal thanks to the weather conditions at Wrigley Field, with cold wins blowing infield making home runs nearly impossible. Fezzik predicts once the wind warms up and starts blowing the opposite direction, the Chicago mound will be exposed as a bunch of pretenders, so look to bet on overs on totals once Chi-town starts to warm up.
