The Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners meet up today in matinee Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 3:40 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv as well as locally in both markets. Currently the odds for the game have the Mariners favored to pick up the win on the road.
Seattle picked up a 10th inning win in last night's game, getting a walkoff RBI single from Austin Jackson. The loss for Baltimore continued their alternating of victories and defeats the last 10 games overall, a win today would help continue that little trend for them.
Get-away day in baseball is always a good time, especially for fans who enjoy day games. Today's matchup features Kevin Gausman for the O's and Hisashi Iwakuma for the Mariners, a pair of solid pitchers looking to give their teams a victory here today.
Iwakuma is just 3-2 on the season in limited action with a 4.41 ERA in 10 starts. His home and away splits are kind of interesting, Iwakuma holds a 5.35 ERA at Safeco Field and is 2-2 in a couple of starts. In August his numbers have been very solid, though, making two starts with a 2.30 ERA in better than 15 innings of work. He's faced Texas and Minnesota and held those teams to just nine hits during that time, striking out 14. Current Orioles are hitting .204 against him in 49 at bats, Chris Davis has homered.
Gausman is 2-3 on the year with a 4.56 ERA. He's seen time as a starter and reliever this season, making seven starts. His home/road splits are an indication Seattle could be in for a solid game offensively today. Gausman's 7.06 ERA on the road is almost six runs higher than his 1.50 home ERA. Away from home opponents are clubbing an average of .280 in 29 1/3 innings. Current Mariners are hitting .333 against him, Robinson Cano has four hits in six plate appearances.
With Gausman's road troubles and Iwakuma allowing opponents to hit well at Safeco Field, this could be a game that sees double digit runs scored. The total is set at seven runs for this one as both pitchers have the potential to be solid, but there will be runs scored here today.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
