The Los Angeles Dodgers welcome in the Atlanta Braves in Major League Baseball action tonight. The game is is scheduled for a 10:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Dodgers listed as an overwhelming favorite to pick up the win at home.
Clayton Kershaw pitches tonight for the Dodgers, making them a massive favorite to get the win. Kershaw, though, hasn't been nearly close to himself to start this season. He's 2-3 with an ERA of 4.32 so far this season, but it is early in the campaign. Los Angeles has dropped five of his nine starts to the season, the most recent coming to the San Francisco Giants in 4-0 fashion.
The Braves are an even 22-22 on the season, falling in yesterday's game to the Dodgers 6-3. Los Angeles needs to become a better team at the plate, like they were to begin the season. Signs of that starting were seen last night as LA clobbered three home runs, and 11 hits total, in the win over the Braves.
Atlanta has been out-scored by seven runs this season, the Dodgers have out-scored opponents by 46 runs.
Tonight the Braves send Julio Teheran to the mound; he's been their best starter so far this season. Teheran owns a record of 4-1 with a 3.91 ERA in his nine starts. Atlanta has won six of those nine starts and current Dodgers own an average of .310 against him in 58 at bats. Jimmy Rollins has had the most success against him with seven hits (one home run) in 22 at bats.
Kershaw has allowed current Braves to just a .160 average in 106 at bats. Both Freddie Freeman and Kelly Johnson have homered off of him during their careers.
In tonight's game, Kershaw has a chance to bounce back against an Atlanta team that has been middle of the road offensively. With his success against them, there's no doubt he could do it again tonight.
Free Pick: Dodgers
NFL Free Pick: Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
According to professional sports bettor Steve Fezzik, the early bird can catch a profitable worm if they put money down on Green Bay's opening week showing against the Chicago Bears. With the line currently at -4.5 at most Vegas sports books, Fezzik predicts it will move to -6.5 come game day, as no one is going to be betting on the Jay Cutler-helmed Bears, so the money will pour in on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. With that being the case, time strike early while the iron is hot.
