LSU entered the 2012 season as one of the favorites to win the BCS National Championship, but the Tigers were one upped by Alabama for a second straight season. Much to LSU’s chagrin, the odds makers are predicting more of the same next year with the Tigers drawing +1000 moneyline odds to win the 2014 BCS Championship. The Crimson Tide are favored to repeat, currently drawing a +300 line ($100 wins $300) in the latest 2014 BCS Championship Odds.
LSU finished with 10 or more wins for the sixth time during Head Coach Les Miles’ eight year tenure. The Tigers bowed out of the BCS race relatively early, though, losing at Florida on October 6th. LSU went on to lose two more times, falling to Alabama on November 3rd in Baton Rouge and to Clemson in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
Despite the three losses, the schools most in a season since 2009, the Tigers are expected contend for the BCS title next season. Miles had a great recruiting class last season and, by all accounts, he has lassoed another bundle of top shelf high school talent for 2013.
However, per usual, LSU’s road to BCS glory will be a difficult one. The Tigers not only have to contend with Alabama in the SEC West, but also a Texas A&M squad that features, arguably, the nation’s best player in quarterback Johnny Manziel.
