The Los Angeles Lakers, who are clinging to the final Western Conference playoff spot, are in the Bay Area tonight for a showdown with their divisional rival, the Golden State Warriors. This evening’s NBA nightcap has a scheduled start time of 10:30pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on NBA TV. Monday NBA Odds have the Warriors favored at -1 against the spread and the Over/Under set at 204 points.
Los Angeles put together a 6-1 stretch between March 6th and 17th that allowed it vault past the reeling Utah Jazz and take control of the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot.
Since the impressive run the Lakers are 0-2, though, with embarrassing losses to the Suns and Wizards. Friday’s home loss to Washington, despite featuring a closer score (100-103), was the more disheartening of the two.
Both Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol returned to the lineup against the Wizards, but they did more to hurt their team than help it. Bryant scored 21 points and dished out 11 assists, but his defensive effort was severely lacking as Washington’s Trevor Ariza scored 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Gasol tallied four points after connecting on just two of his 10 field goal attempts.
Golden State, currently the sixth seed in the West with a 40-31 record, recorded its third win in four games on Saturday. Despite turning the ball over 21 times, the Warriors bounced the aforementioned Wizards 101-92 at the ORACLE Arena.
Stephen Curry, who is questionable for tonight’s game (ankle), finished the game with 35 points on 13-of-18 shooting. Golden State other four starters also tallied double figures in scoring as did reserve guard Jarrett Jack.
Golden State has lost six in a row and 18 of its last 19 games against Los Angeles, but it did force overtime in its last meeting with the Lakers, a 115-118 December 22nd loss at the ORACLE Arena.
Notable Trends: The Lakers are 1-5 both straight up and against the spread in their last six games as a road dog with a spread between 0 and 3.5 points.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors NBA Odds:
Los Angeles Lakers +1 (-110), Over 204 (-110)
Golden State Warriors -1 (-110), Under 204 (-110)
