The Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks will collide for the second and final time this season when they meet at Madison Square Garden later tonight. Tip off in this evening's East versus West battle is set for 7:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN. Opening Friday NBA Betting Odds have the visiting Clippers listed as a -4 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 202.5 points. The Knicks are getting +160 money line odds ($100 wins $160) to win tonight's game straight up.
When these two squads hooked up in late November the Knicks were in the midst of a horrible six game skid. The Clippers extended their slide to seven games with a 93-80 win at the STAPLES Center.
Los Angeles did anything but burn the nets down in the double digit victory, but its defense made up for any offensive shortcomings as they held New York to 38.6 percent field goal shooting, including a 3-for-20 mark from beyond the arc.
The Knicks enter tonight's contest in slightly better shape, having won five of their last seven games; however, they are coming off back to back road losses to the Bobcats and Pacers to bring their overall record to 15-24.
The Clippers, who open a seven game Eastern Conference road swing this evening, are still in fine form, though, despite Chris Paul, who is out until February (shoulder), missing the last five games. Los Angeles extended its current winning streak to four games on Wednesday night with a 129-127 home win over the Dallas Mavericks
Prior to facing Dallas, the Clippers won five of their six previous six games, defeating the Bobcats, Mavericks, Magic, Celtics, and Lakers by an average of 19.2 points per game.
Notable Trends: The Knicks, who are 1-4 in their last five meetings with the Clippers, are 2-4 both straight up and against the spread in their last six games as a home underdog with a spread between 4 and 7.5 points.
