The 16th annual Little Caesars Pizza Bowl will take place in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, December 26th with a start time of 7:30 PM (Eastern). The game will pit the Central Michigan Chippewas vs the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and will be televised live on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have Western Kentucky favored by 5.5 points, while the total sits at 58.5.
The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl is now in its 16th year of bringing major college football bowl action to football fans across the country during the holiday season. From 1997 through 2008 the bowl was known as the Motor City Bowl. The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl is the only major college football bowl game located in the Midwest United States.
Central Michigan enters the bowl on a three-game winning streak. The Central Michigan Chippewas finished with a 6-6 overall record and a 4-4 record in the MAC. After losing four straight games by double-digits in the middle of the season, the Chippewas rallied to win their last three regular season games. Central Michigan will be playing in their fifth bowl game in the last seven years, but their first bowl since 2009. This year will mark the Chippewas’ first return to Detroit since their battle with Florida Atlantic in the 2008 Little Caesars Bowl.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers finished the regular season with a 7-5 overall record and a 4-4 record in the Sun Belt conference. Western Kentucky, which became a full FBS member in 2009, will play in its first bowl game after getting passed over last year at 7-5. The Hilltoppers signature win came at Kentucky this season. Western Kentucky posted a 3-1 record against non-conference opponents this season, having only been defeated by SEC Champion Alabama outside their conference.
Central Michigan Stat Rankings--- The Chipps are 68th in total offense, 53rd in passing, 76th in rushing and 65th in scoring (29.2 ppg). On defense they are 95th overall, 77th vs the pass, 98th vs the run and 99th in points allowed (33.3 ppg).
Western Kentucky Stat Rankings--- The Hilltoppers are 73rd in total offense, 93rd in passing, 41st in rushing and 68th in points scored (28.8 ppg). On defense WKU is 23rd overall, 31st vs the pass, 32nd vs the run and 51st in points allowed (25.6 ppg).
