Now that Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers have disposed of Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets, the attention turns to the Dallas Mavs – while those with a longer view are wondering if Kobe has enough left to lead the Lakers to a third straight NBA Title.
Much drama has stemmed from Kobe Bryant’s sprained left ankle – specifically his refusal to undergo a MRI or X-Rays after the injury.
Coach Phil Jackson has won 13 NBA Championships – 11 as a coach plus 2 as a player. Typically Jackson wears his most recent championship ring during his team’s playoff run, but this season his employing a fascinating approach: wearing a different ring for each game, starting at the beginning and moving forward in chronological order!
“I think I’m starting at the beginning and working all the way through,” Jackson said.
The Lakers vs. Mavericks series in the first time these teams have meet in the playoff since 1988. As usual, all eyes will be on Mark Cuban and his grand potential for drama.
Game One will be played Monday in Los Angeles. Lakers are 6-point favorites over the Mavs. Lakers are -345 for the series (Mavs +285) which means Vegas gives the Lakers a 76% chance to win the series. (Series odds prices can greatly vary - shop at trusted sportsbooks before you play)
