Pro Football Free Pick Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans NFL Betting Odds

Sunday NFL and we will see the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game has a start time of 1:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on FOX. Current Vegas odds have the Texans listed as 9.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 40.5.

Analysis:  The Jacksonville Jaguars have had another miserable year, as they come in with a 3-12 record overall and an 0-7 mark on the road. The Jags are 5-11-2 ATS in their last 18 games overall, 3-11-1 ATS in their last 15 games following a S.U. win and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 17. Jacksonville is not a good offensive team as they come in ranked 30th in total yards, 30th in passing, 23rd in rushing and 32nd in scoring (15.5 ppg). The defense has not been good as well, as they come in ranked 27th in yards allowed, 29th vs the pass, 27th vs the run and 27th in points allowed (25.9 ppg).

The Houston Texans went just 2-14 last year, but like most expected they have bounced back this year going 8-7 so far. They do have an outside shot at the playoffs, but they need a win here, a San Diego Loss and a Baltimore loss to get in. Houston is 5-1-2 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 17 and 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, but just 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win. The Texans have been average on offense, ranking 17th in total yards, 26th in passing, 4th in rushing and 14th in scoring (23.3 ppg). The Houston defense comes in ranked 21st in yards allowed, 24th vs the pass, 11th vs the run and 6th in points allowed (19.3 ppg).

Pick: I expect the Texans to have a big game in this one. Even if they win they probably won't get a playoff berth, but they will build for next year, especially if it's an easy win. The Jags are not a good team and the last time they won a game this year tey came back to lose by 14 points to these same Texans. The Jags have gone 0-7 on the road this year and have been outscored by 11.3 pg in the process. Look for them to again lose by at least 14 to a more fired up Houston squad.
