The Kansas City Chiefs will look to keep their faint AFC West title hopes alive tomorrow when they battle the Indianapolis Colts at an icy Arrowhead Stadium. Since their 6-2 start, the Colts have been a mediocre team as evidenced by their 3-3 record. The losses were especially bad, though; bad enough many began to question whether or not Indy could succeed without Reggie Wayne in the lineup.
The Colts lost 38-8 at home to St. Louis, 40-11 at Arizona, and 42-28 at Cincinnati while scoring two narrow wins over the Titans. Thankfully for Indy the beleaguered Texans showed up at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday and they provided a much needed boost of confidence for Andrew Luck and company.
The Colts topped Houston 25-3, giving them their first double digit victory since defeating the Jaguars 37-3 on September 29th. Despite the easy win, the odds makers are not sold on Indy's ability to hang with the Chiefs in KC.
Of course, part of that has do with Andy Reid's squad. Many questioned the legitimacy of the Chiefs, even when they were 9-0, and three straight losses seemed to give credence to KC's detractors, but they have bounced back in a big way the last two weekends.
Following its gut wrenching 35-28 home loss to the Broncos, Kansas City pasted the Redskins 45-10 in Washington and they smashed the Raiders 56-31 in Oakland over the weekend to improve to 11-3 on the season and lock up a playoff spot.
Jamaal Charles turned in a truly epic stat line against Oakland as he accounted for 215 total yards and five touchdowns, including scoring catches of 49, 39, 16, and 71 yards.
This game holds significance for both teams as the Chiefs are still a candidate to win the top seed in the AFC while the Colts are in a fight to advance their position, which is currently fourth in the overall conference standings, as well. But Indy's recent road play coupled with Kansas City's 5-2 home record make it hard to go against the Chiefs in this contest.
Notable Trends: The Colts are 0-10 straight up and 1-8-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog with a total between 41.5 and 44 points.
