CFB Saturday and we will see the Idaho Vandals travel to Laramie, Wyoming to take on the Wyoming Cowboys. The start time is 4:00 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised locally. Current Odds have Wyoming listed as 28 point favorites, while the total sits at 65.5.
Analysis: The Idaho Vandals were a bad team last year and they started this year in the same fashion, by getting blown out 40-6 by North Texas. That now puts their losing streak at 7 games. Idaho started out the game in fine fashion, putting together a 75-yard drive on the first possession, culminating with a six-yard TD pass from Chad Chalich to Jake Manley, but then Austin Rehkow's PAT was blocked, and that was the last scoring chance they had, as North Texas reeled off the next 40 points. The Vandals did generate 390 yards of total offense, but they gave up 591 yards to North Texas, including 404 yards through the air. Idaho is a team that will have problems competing this year, they have little talent to begin with from last year's 1-11, plus their incoming class is rated as one of the worst at the FBS level. It's going to be a long year for the Vandals.
Last week Wyoming nearly pulled off a monumental upset as they lost by just 3 at Nebraska. Now they get to take a bit of a breather with a home date vs Idaho. The Cowboys, had plenty of highlights in their first game of 2013 as Brett Smith showed why he is one of the best quarterbacks that no one has ever heard of, connecting on 29-of-43 passes for 383 yards and four touchdowns. Smith also had 92 yards rushing in the game as well. The defense for the Cowboys did struggle vs the high powered attack of Nebraska's, as hey allowed 530 total yards, including 375 yards on the ground. That's nothing new for the Pokes as they were 117th nationally vs the run last year allowing 232.3 ypg rushing. The defense need help, but the offense will be fine, until teams start focusing on stopping Smith.
Pick: Gonna keep this one short. I like Wyoming. This Vandals team is very bad and will have troubles inning even one game this year. they have very little talent, very little depth and very little help coming in. Wyoming will struggle n defense this year , but vs the Vandals you don't need a great or even good defense. Wyoming's offense should have a field day in this one as they win by at least 28 points.
