Hawaii Rainbow Warriors vs UNLV Rebels, Free Picks

Saturday night college football and we will see the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors take on the UNLV Rebels in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game will be televised locally and has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern). Current Odds have UNLV listed as 8.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 55.

Analysis: The Rainbow Warriors have started the year with five defeats in as many games and except for a desperate comeback bid against nationally-ranked Fresno State when it trailed by 39 points, every game has been decided by double figures. Hawaii is one of nine teams at the FBS level still seeking its first win of the campaign and they have lost nine straight games on the road. The Rainbow warriors have the stats of an 0-5 team as they are 106th in the nation in total offense (350 ypg), 121st in rushing offense (73.2 ypg) and 104th in scoring (20 ppg). On the defensive side they are even worse, checking in at 106th in yards allowed (455.2 ypg), 116th vs the pass (293.4 ypg) and 103rd in points allowed (34.6 ppg). This is just not a very good team at all.

The Rebels check in at 3-2 on the year and have won 3 in row, which is the longest win streak for the Rebels since 2003. It's also an impressive streak considering the fact that the Rebels had won no more than 2 games in each of the previous 3 years. The Rebels began the season with Nick Sherry at QB, but he has since been replaced by Caleb Herring and the outlook hasn't been this bright in years for UNLV. Caleb has converted 75 percent of his 88 pass attempts, and he has tossed eight touchdowns without a single interception. Providing solid offensive balance for the group is Tim Cornett, who in five games has compiled 498 net rushing yards and scored seven times. Te Rebel defense is not that good overall, ranking 109th in points allowed (35.8 ppg), but one bright spot of this group is their pass defense which is tops in the land, allowing just 134 ypg through the air.

Pick: I like the Rebels to get the job done here. Bobby Hauck has a special team on his hand and one of the best that the Rebels have seen in a long time. They will not let a Hawaii team that doesn't travel well to steal the show here. UNLV by at least 12 points in this one.
