The college football bowl season begins on Saturday afternoon in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The game features the New Mexico Lobos and the Texas San Antonio Roadrunners and has a start time of 2:00 p.m., where it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The college football odds for the game have the Lobos favored to pick up the win.

College Football Odds
New Mexico -7
Total: 62.5 points

New Mexico is once again playing a home game for their post season contest. Last year they played in the same position, but lost to Arizona. In fact, the Lobos have played each of their last three bowl games in this one. They picked up a win in the 2007 installment, beating rival Nevada. That was just the first bowl win for the Lobos dating back to 1961.

UT San Antonio has never played in a bowl game. They went 6-6 this year and had to beat Charlotte in the final game of the season to qualify for a bowl game. They also played Texas A&M close the week before and should have some confidence going in this one.

New Mexico loves to run the football, head coach Bob Davie knows his team’s strength is handing it off and pounding out the yardage. Teriyon Gipson ran for 1,209, Tyrone Owens posted 1,084 and Lamar Jordan added 658 on the ground as well and the trio combined for 22 scores. Richard McQuarley scored an impressive 16 TDs this year as well, finding the end zone in all but two games.

UT San Antonio surrenders 32 points a game and gives up 4.7 yards per rush to opponents.
