Major League Baseball Betting Odds San Francisco Giants vs Los Angeles Dodgers Free Pick

Major league baseball on Friday night and we will see the San Francisco Giants travel to Chavez Ravine to take on the Los Angeles DodgersFree Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 10:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Giants                +145
Dodgers              -155

Over/ Under: 7 -110

This is game 1 of a 3 game series between these National League West foes. The Giants come off a split of their 4 games with the Mariners, but still they have not been playing good ball of late as they have won just 2 of their last 8 games and now sit 2.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West. The Dodgers come in off a rough series with Texas, in which they lost 3 of 4 games and scored just 7 runs in the 4 games. The Dodgers have been a good team at home this year where they are 26-11 on the year.

The Giants rank 20th in scoring (4.00 rpg), 4th in hitting (.267) and 24th in homers (53), while on the mound they are 10th in ERA (3.66) and 12th in WHIP (1.24). LA ranks 12th in scoring (4.25 rpg), 13th in hitting (.256) and 2nd in homers (84), while on the mound they are 3rd in ERA (3.25) and 3rd in WHIP (1.18).

Getting the ball for the Giants tonight will be Chris Heston, who is 6-5 with a 3.76 ERA on the year, while on the road he is 4-1 with a 4.38 ERA. Chris has never faced the Dodgers as a starter, but did face them out of the pen twice, allowing 0 hits and 0 run in 1.1 innings of work.

Taking the hill for the Dodgers tonight will be Mike Bolsinger, who has gone 4-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 8 starts this year, while at home he is 4-0 with a 1.01 ERA. Mike is 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA in 1 start vs the Giants

Pick: Let's go with the Under in this game. The Dodgers offense is really struggling right now and if they had issues hitting off a weak Rangers staff then I expect the same hitting woes off a much better staff. The Giants are 10th in the league in ERA and when the teams met in San Francisco earlier in the year, the Giants shut them out in 3 straight games, so I do expect the Dodgers to struggle at the plate once more. Mike Bolsinger has been excellent at home this year with a 1.01 ERA and his home starts have averaged just 6.75 rpg. The Giants are not a good offensive team, so I wouldn't expect them to score much here either. I say less than 5 runs in this one.

MovieStop the All-Star Game Ballot Stuffing
Pro handicappers Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik have a bone to pick with MLB Commisioner Bud Selig, who decided the All-Star exhibition game will determine World Series home field advantage. With Royals fans currently voting seven Kansas City players into the starting line up of the American League team, this popularity-based roster of an exhibition game which has way too much impact on the most important baseball series of the year.
