The Toronto Blue Jays look to remain hot in Major League Baseball action when they host the New York Yankees. The game is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the MLB Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Jays listed as a big favorite to pick up the win here tonight.
Toronto has piled up 11 straight wins and have looked like the best team in the American League since acquiring David Price and Troy Tulowitzki. The Blue Jays had an amazing lineup before the trades, but Tulowitzki has seemed to solidify the order and give them another powerful option.
The Jays went from being a team buying at the deadline with a potential chance at the playoffs to running down the Yankees and taking over first place in the AL East. Tonight they'll give the ball to Price yet again, he's won each of his first two starts for the Blue Jays, throwing 15 combined innings while striking out 18 and allowing only one earned run.
One of those wins came over the Yankees where Price fanned seven, scattered three hits and didn't allow a run in seven innings of work. Current Yankees are hitting .252 in 278 at bats against Price, both Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann have gone deep three times. Jacoby Ellsbury has also homered off Price and is hitting .340 against him in 58 at bats.
The Yankees will send Ivan Nova to the mound. He's 4-4 with a 3.52 ERA in eight starts this season. Nova's numbers are scary similar when it comes to his splits: he's thrown 23 innings at home and on the road, he's 2-2 in both cases and he has a 3.52 ERA on the road and at home. The big difference, at least in his splits, is that opponents are hitting almost 100 points higher (.289 to .198) on the road.
Nova just lost to the Blue Jays the other day, yielding four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. Current Blue Jays are hitting .267 against him in 101 at bats with Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Justin Smoak all going deep.
The Jays are steamrolling everyone right now, it would take a big effort from Nova and the Yankees to stop it tonight with Price on the mound.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
