Major League Baseball Friday New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox Betting Odds Free Pick

Friday night major league baseball and we will see the New York Yankees travel to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox in game 1 of their 3 game series. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 7:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on the MLB Network.

Betting Odds

Yankees                 +110
Red Sox                  -120

Over/ Under: 8 O -120

The Yanks come in having won 5 of their last 7 games and they currently hold a 3 game lead over the Baltimore Orioles in the AL East. This is a team that is playing very well and have gotten healthier with the return of Jacoby Elsbury. The Red Sox come into this game hot as they have won 9 of their last 11 games and while they are in last place in the AL East, they are just 5.5 ga,e behind division leading New York. The Yanks are 21-23 on the road, while Boston is 21-21 at home.

New York ranks 2nd in scoring (4.62 rpg), 15th in hitting (.253) and 3rd in homers (111), while on the mound they are 19th in ERA (3.97) and 14th in WHIP (1.26). Boston ranks 12th in scoring (4.23 rpg), 12th in hitting (.256) and 12th in homers (82), while on the mound they are 28th in ERA (4.45) and 27th in WHIP (1.36).

Getting the ball for the Yankees tonight will be Michael Pineda, who is 8-5 with a 3.79 ERA in 16 starts this year, while on the road he is 4-3 with a 4.53 ERA. Michael is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 4 starts vs the Red Sox in his career, while at Fenway Park he is 1-2 with 7.30 ERA in 3 starts.

Taking the hill for the Red Sox tonight will be Clay Buchholz, who is 7-6 with a 3.27 ERA overall, while at home he has gone 3-4 with a 3.63 ERA in 9 starts. Clay has struggled with the Yanks in his career, going 5-8 with a 6.38 ERA in 16 starts vs them.

Pick: I will side with the Sox in this game. Clay Buchholz has had his issues with the Yanks in his career, but right now he is pitching very well as he comes in with a 4-0 mark and an 0.89 ERA in his last 4 starts. He also will be looking for a bit of revenge after allowing 9 ERs in a 14-4 loss to the Tanks earlier in the year. Pineda comes in 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in his last 3 starts and he has a 4.53 ERA on the road, The Sox offense has been much better of late and I see them continuing their winning ways with a solid win over the Yanks tonight.

MLB Betting Strategy: Don't Snub All-Star Pitching Snubs
Just because the All-Star Game doesn't want Clayton Kershaw doesn't mean sports bettors shouldn't. Vegas gambling expert Scott Spreitzer explains why your MLB picks should favor snubbed pitchers for this year's All-Star Game in Cincinnati. With added motivation and extended rest from the All-Star break, Scott thinks they are profitable pitchers to back.
