On Sunday, the 2012 French Open begins. For the next two weeks, the best tennis players in the world will be squaring off on the red clay for the right to be called a Champion at Roland Garros. The French Open Odds for Rafael Nadal are currently sitting at -160 on the sports betting website BetOnline.com. Currently Nadal is the only player in either the men's or women's draw to be less than even money for a futures bet. He's that good.

It should come as no surprise that Nadal is that much of a favorite at this event. He's won the French Open Title six out of the last seven years and is a massive favorite. In fact, BetOnline.com currently has a future bet option of taking Nadal at -160 against the rest of the men in the tournament, known as "The Field" which has odds of +135. These odds mean that Nadal, as just one person, has nearly a 62 percent chance to win the tournament. Those type of odds don't come around very much, but it also shows just how important Nadal is on the red clay.

Nadal will open the 2012 French Open as the second seed in the tournament behind No. 1 Novak Djokovic. It's a bit of a surprise that Nadal isn't the top seed in this tournament as he has dominated the French Open the past seven years, but there's also no doubt that Djokovic is still the best player in the world today. It should be a great tournament. Nadal's first match will take place against Simone Bolelli.

The French Open is often referred to as Roland Garros and is named after the famous French aviator Roland Garros, The event will take place over two weeks overall between Sunday and the second week of June in Paris, France. The French Open is played at the Stade Roland Garros and is considered by most tennis fans, broadcasters and players as the premier clay court event in the world. It's still currently the only of the four major tournaments that is played on clay.
