Considering Florida State had won nine or more games just three times in the last seven years, it would be difficult to call last season’s 9-4 finish a disappointment. However, many felt the Seminoles underachieved as they entered the year with BCS bowl aspirations. The ante has really been upped this season as the latest Florida State Seminoles 2012 Season Odds are calling for Jimbo Fisher’s crew to win the ACC Atlantic Division (1-4 odds) and the odds for winning the ACC Conference Championship Game on a $100 wager would win $135. The Seminoles are also considered a national title player, drawing 14-1 odds to win the BCS National Championship. Florida State is presently favored, at -155 moneyline odds ($155 to win $100), to win Over 9.5 games.
Following its 2-3 start to the 2011 season, Florida State went 7-1 the rest of the way, beating in-state rivals Miami and Florida as well as Notre Dame in the Champs Sports Bowl. Given the school’s strong finish and the return over 17 starters and 68 lettermen, it is easy to see why so many pundits are high on the Seminoles BCS chances this season.
Ten or more wins appears to be a definite possibility for this loaded team, but there are a few potential trap games. While the Seminoles gets these teams at home, Clemson, USF, and Florida will be anything but pushovers. FSU also faces at least two note-worthy road challenges against Miami and Virginia Tech. The odds makers are expecting the majority of those to work out fine for Fisher and company, though. Lines have been released on four Florida State games (Clemson -8, Miami -9.5, Virginia Tech +1, Florida -7.5) and it is favored in all of them with the exception of the Virginia Tech contest.
