FIFA Women's World Cup Knockout Stage United States vs Colombia Start Time, Free Pick

The FIFA Women's World Cup Knockout Stage continues this afternoon when the United States takes on Colombia in the second match of the third day of knockouts. The match is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the match have the Americans favored to pick up the win and advance.

United States vs. Colombia Betting Odds

Spread Moneyline Total Goals

United States

 -2 (-120)  -700 OVER 2.5, 3 (-115)
Colombia  +2 (+100)  +1200 UNDER 2.5, 3 (-105)
Draw    +650

The United States has been on a mission since falling in the 2011 World Cup finals. This year's American squad has speed, athleticism and a large amount of talent on the squad and have been tabbed as one of the favorites to win. Tonight they'll take on a Colombia team that believes it can beat the big favorites and they've been talking trash to try and sway the American's focus.

Whether or not that trash talk will work remains to be seen. The offense hasn't looked great in three group stage matches for the United States, but allowing just one goal has shown they might be the best defensive team in the world. Certainly Hope Solo is on the short list for best goal keeper in the world as well, so it will be difficult to beat the Americans if there are some goals scored tonight.

The only way it seems, on paper, that Colombia can win is to clog up the American attack and not let them run free on counters. If the Colombians are able to get a slim lead at the start it could very well be a positive sign for them, unless they become complacent and play not to lose.

This American team won't want to fall flat. The United States can win the lower-scoring affair but would obviously be comfortable getting a couple of early ones on the board as well. With the added incentive from the talk of Colombia in the press, look for the United States to make a nice statement here tonight.
