The FIFA Women's World Cup continues today with China set to take on the Netherlands in the second game of the day. China's World Cup pretty much comes down to this match today. They are taking on the Netherlands and a win would be massive for China, which would tie Holland with three points and essentially make the goal differential the same as well, giving each team a shot in their third match to seal up a place in the knockout stages.
China dropped a close 1-0 match to host Canada to open the World Cup, Netherlands beat New Zealand 1-0 as well. The tight, close matches make little mistakes magnified and neither team will want to fall into that problem tonight.
This game is once again being played at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton.
Netherlands, ranked 12th in the world by FIFA, got a first half goal by Lieke Martens and road out the match for three points. If they are able to draw against China today, or win, it will cement them into the next round most likely.
This should be a low-scoring match as well. Both teams will work to keep the possession and ultimately play for the lead, but then look to stay in cruise control. Holland will score in the opening half here and find a way to get it done.
