Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Odds San Diego State Aztecs vs Buffalo Bulls

The Famous Potato Idaho Bowl takes place on Saturday, December 21st and we will see the Buffalo Bulls take on the San Diego Aztecs at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho.  The game has a start time of 8:30 pm (Eastern) and be will televised on ESPN. Current odds have the game listed as a Pick, while the total sits at 53.

Analysis: Buffalo will be making its second bowl appearance ever, after going 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the MAC this year. The Bulls are lead by QB Joe Licata, who threw for 2628 yards, with 21 TDs and just 7 INT's, while senior running back Branden Oliver leads the ground attack with 1,421 yards and 15 touchdowns. Overall this offense has been average at best averaging 4018 ypg (71st) in total offense, 229.9 ypg passing (69th), 171.9 ypg rushing (67th) and 30.8 ppg (57th). While the offense has been average, the defense has been tough. The Bulls rank tied for 27th nationally in scoring defense (22.3) thanks in large part to senior Khalil Mack, who has 94 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and three interceptions this season, while also forcing 16 fumbles. He is s true stat sheet stuffer and is a big reason why the Bulls are fourth nationally with a plus-15 turnover margin.

The Aztecs are playing in their school-record fourth consecutive bowl, and the last time they played on they field (Last year) they grabbed a 21-19 win over Boise State, which knocked the Broncos out of a BCS bowl. SDSU got off to a slow start this tear, but they won 7 of the last 9 games to finish with a 7-5 mark overall and a 6-2 mark in the Mountain West Conference. San Diego State ranks 35th nationally in passing as junior Quinn Kaehler has thrown for 2796 yards, with 17 TDs vs 9 INTs. HIs top target this year has been Ezell Ruffin, who caught 63 balls for 1,061 yards and three scores. San Diego State’s biggest problems are on defense as it ranked 96th in points allowed (32.3) and 106th in passing yards allowed (259.7 ypg).

Pick: Going with the Aztecs in this one. The Bulls haven't faced may high powered offenses this year, but the 3 they did face they were blasted in, allowing 40 points to Ohio State, 70 to Baylor and 51 to Toledo. Now they face the high powered passing attack of the Aztecs and i see them having problems slowing them down. The Bulls offense has been below average this year and I just don't see them coming up with enough points to win this game. SDSU by at least a TD here.
